Stop copying. You can be better than that.

Updated: Aug 11, 2019

I know they say "Imitation is the best form of flattery" but getting someone to steal someone else's ideas or just using the ideas as your own is just plain wrong.

Seriously, asking people for help to discover how others work isn't the greatest path to walk down. You'll look like a dick and people won't respect you for it.

Spend a day coming up with your own plans, systems, solutions. Yes, you may "copy" what others are doing but at least you know they've made an impact on you and you've not just been a snake in the grass and copied them outright.

I know it's hard coming up with new ideas and new ways of doing things. I use a lot of ideas i've learnt from others over the years. Sometimes the current ways are the best! Just don't go out, and back handedly steal other people's idea's or rip them off as your own.

It's not big, it's not clever, and Karma will bite you in the arse.

Most people I know are happy to share their processes. They are open to helping people, all you need to do is ask. Even if you are the "competition". One of my best friends is also a VA. She's very successful at what she does. We work alongside each other and help each other. We brain storm, we discuss plans and what procedures we're putting in to place. I've 'stolen' ideas from her and i'm sure she's used some of my ideas. But it's never done in a back handed way. Never have I got 'Bob' to call Sam to find out the best way to do something. EVER!

All I ask is that you think, and take two seconds to see if there is a better solution rather than taking someones work, whacking your logo on it and calling it YOUR idea.

Until next time,

Blessed Be!
