Who wants to live forever?
Updated: Aug 11, 2019
I was recently working and the Queen song 'who wants to live forever' came on. It got me thinking.
Over the last couple of months i've had a few friends pass away and a few were given a death sentence due to one illness or another. It sucks balls. In this day in ages any one dying of diseases or illnesses at an early age should be minimal not the norm.
Now, don't get me wrong, I do NOT want to live forever. I couldn't think of anything worse if i'm totally honest. I have epilepsy and various auto immune diseases so I know that my life span will likely be shorter than a "normal" person and i'm totally cool with that but it breaks my heart that others go so young.
My Nannie was taken from us when she was 53. Cancer that spread EVERYWHERE very quickly. My mum and Auntie are the same age now and every time they get a cough or have a sore throat, i'm on edge. I want them and other people to live long and healthy lives. I know a good friend of mine has similar fears because of their family history too. I'm sure they don't want to live forever either. Just old enough to get a blue rinse and terrorise the kids in the street. Is that really too much to ask?
So what the point of me waffling on? My point it, whatever your situation, you have a today and quite likely a tomorrow. At the minute, but that won't last forever. So, sometime this week, sit down, contact some friends or family members, tell them you love them and make some plans to do something fun.
It can be an indoor picnic, a quick beer down the local, a night away, sod it - a week away. Just make sure you always have something in your diary to look forward to and to make memories from.
I'm currently in the middle of booking a fun day out with a good friend of mine, Dawn. We haven't got a clue what we're doing exactly. We just kind of stuck a pin in the map half way between where we both live and will hope for the best. But here's the thing we both know it's going to happen. We both have something to look forward to and i'm sure something to laugh at afterwards.
Do something that makes you smile because none of us have long left. It's TRUE!
Until next time,
