I f*cked up.
Absolute rookie mistake.
I'm sorry to all those who thought I was perfect.
Mistakes happen. Even to me.
I clicked "update" rather than "remind me later" during the middle of the working day.
I'm as gutted about this as you are?
But wait! My mac is telling me I only have to wait two minutes. Oh no,18 minutes. Wait, that's 46 minutes.
It's probably the busiest day of the week, I've already had to take 2 hours off this morning to go to the hospital and now this.
Absolutely nothing can be done about the update now. It's in motion BUT that doesn't mean that it's the end of the world. I have a laptop and a phone. I can access the back end of my website from there. I can create this blog. A blog that I was scheduled to write, on another topic, in 3 days time. Win. We have a solution.
There is a business lesson here, I promise.
When things don't go your way, and there are lots of times where they won't, there are several things we can do.
- Kick up a fuss, write the rest of the day off.
- Throw the computer across the room
- Look for a solution.
I reckon your best bet would be the last one.
Now, I could have given myself a lunch break for 45 minutes. Made a cuppa, sat in the garden, given my brain some TLC. I could have gone for a nap. I could have found a way around the problem to use my time productively, which is what I chose to do.
Sometimes things don't go to plan BUT they really aren't the end of the world. Sometimes we just need to step back, take a deep breath and look for a way out of the accidental mess.
There is always a way out, you just need to stay calm until you find it.
Until next time,
