The Pros and Cons of Using AI to Write Your Blogs
From 'In recent years' down to the conclusion, this blog is written by ChatGPT (AI).

I asked the AI to write me a 600-word blog with this title. It took seconds to come back to me. Literally seconds. I then ran it through Grammarly's plagiarism checker (well worth the £120 a year, if you ask me). This also took seconds. It came back that the blog was 11% plagiarised. I checked each part they had highlighted, and they were common sentences that most humans would write.

I then created a graphic, added this part of the blog, formatted the blog on my website, added some tags, checked the SEO was all fine and dandy and pressed post. All in all, from start to finish, it took me 26 minutes to do everything. EVERYTHING.

Up until recently, I was very anti-AI. A dear friend and client twisted my arm and asked me to try it. So, I did. In all honesty, I think I like it. It'll be helpful for those weeks I'm snowed under because now a blog will take me less than 30 minutes but could potentially take 60-90 before. I also like writing, so I'd only rely on this sometimes, but I'll keep it in my VA arsenal for now. I'm still cautious about the whole AI thing as I'm convinced there will be a robot uprising at some point but for now... we'll see.

In recent years, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) has expanded into various industries, including content creation. AI-powered language models, such as ChatGPT, have gained popularity for their ability to generate human-like text. Many bloggers and content creators are now considering using AI to write their blogs. However, before diving into this new trend, it's essential to understand the pros and cons associated with using AI for blog writing.

Pros:  Time-Saving Efficiency

One of the significant advantages of using AI to write blogs is its time-saving efficiency. AI can generate content at a rapid pace, allowing bloggers to produce more articles in a shorter amount of time. This can be particularly beneficial for businesses or individuals who need to regularly publish fresh content to maintain an active online presence.

Enhanced Creativity

AI can offer creative insights and ideas that may not have been explored otherwise. By analysing vast amounts of data, AI can provide unique perspectives and generate content to spark readers' interest. This can help bloggers think outside the box and produce more engaging and thought-provoking articles.

Improved Consistency

Maintaining consistency in writing style, tone, and quality can be challenging, especially for bloggers with multiple contributors. AI can help ensure consistency by following predefined guidelines and instructions. It can adhere to specific formatting requirements, voice, and brand tone, resulting in a more cohesive blog.

Reduced Writer's Block

Writer's block is a common challenge faced by bloggers and content creators. AI can serve as a valuable tool to overcome this hurdle. By providing prompts and generating initial drafts, AI can kickstart the writing process and provide inspiration, making it easier for bloggers to develop their ideas and complete their articles.

Cons:  Lack of Human Touch

While AI-generated content can be efficient and creative, it may lack the human touch that readers often appreciate. Personal anecdotes, emotions, and subjective experiences are elements that AI may struggle to replicate effectively. Human-written content often resonates more deeply with readers and establishes a stronger connection.

Limited Contextual Understanding

AI models like ChatGPT are trained on vast amounts of data, but they may still lack a deep understanding of specific contexts or industries. They might produce content that is factually correct but doesn't capture the nuances or complexities of a particular subject. Human writers, on the other hand, can bring domain expertise and industry knowledge to create more insightful and accurate articles.

Potential for Plagiarism

AI models are trained on vast amounts of text from the internet, which can increase the risk of unintentional plagiarism. Bloggers must be cautious and ensure that AI-generated content is properly reviewed and edited to avoid any copyright or plagiarism issues. Plagiarism can damage a blogger's reputation and result in legal consequences.
