The purge - Tidy workplace equals tidy mind
For YEARS now i've been in to weekly and monthly purges.

Not just at work but at home too.

At work I have a weekly and monthly purge. The weekly usually takes place after my planning session on a Sunday afternoon. I'm predominantly digital in the office but i do tend to have little note pads and post-it notes laying around or stuck to things. These all get shredded, burnt or recycled. The bin gets emptied, everything is put back in it's rightful places and I have a general tidy up.

At the end of the month, I deep clean the office from top to bottom, the digital trash gets deleted on my computer, my desktop is cleared, and I even smudge the office (that's getting rid of bad energy using the smoke from dried sage leaves).

You would not believe how much this process helps my mental health and productivity on a day to day basis. A few weeks back I had a rough weekend, I had zero energy and was in a lot of pain so I didn't do my weekly purge. BIG mistake. I started the week off on the wrong foot. From 9am Monday I felt like I was on the back foot. Like I was playing catch up.

At home, I follow a similar set up purge rules. Obviously, I do the general daily chores that we all have like general cleaning and sweeping but every week I go a thorough clean. I even treated myself to a 9 in 1 steam cleaner. Lets just say it was a 3 figure gift to myself and I bloody love it!

Every month I go through all the cupboards in my bedroom and ensure everything has a place and a need. If it doesn't it goes in the bin or to charity. My mum has a rule that at the start at every month she hangs 5 items of clothes on the outside of her wardrobe. If they don't get worn that month, they go to charity.

EVERYTHING MUST GO!!! PURGEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Oh, and if you want to go to an extreme (and I do) then you can try the daily purge... That's INBOX ZERO! You read that right. Every day my email inboxes, where possible, are left on zero unread. Can you imagine how many email inboxes a VA has? I think I have about 16-18 at the minute. Every day, they hit zero. The actions needed go on to my to-do list or are actioned immediately.

I even purge people. Facebook friends, Twitter followers, Instagram followers, LinkedIn connections. People don't have a right in your life stinking up the place just like pieces of old paper or the banana skin you threw away at lunch. PURGE before it starts to really stink.

Try these things for a month, see how you get on. I'd love to hear your purge stories and if you tried any of the above.
Until next time,
